General Function

Assist supervisory and skilled food service staff in preparing and serving food, and perform cleaning duties.

Responsibilities

1. Handle food, equipment, and supplies safely and hygienically.
2. Follow modified menus for food preparation and serving.
3. Prepare salads, desserts, butter bread and rolls, and pack them.
4. Set up supplements and extras for meals.
5. Prepare between-meal snacks.
6. Assist cooks with simple food preparations like vegetables, fruits, and sandwiches.
7. Prepare dining areas for meals.
8. Assist in setting up the tray line.
9. Serve resident trays during mealtime, adhering to schedules.
10. Heat items in microwave ovens as needed.
11. Clean work areas and dining tables after meals.
12. Operate dishwashers to ensure thorough cleaning of dishes and utensils.
13. Follow safety policies and perform tasks safely.

Additional Duties

1. Wash pots and pans.
2. Maintain sanitary conditions in the dietary department.
3. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Experience, Training, Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, write, and perform basic math. Previous kitchen experience is desirable. Must attend in-service training and maintain confidentiality.
