Job Description

Provides personal care and professional excellence by performing a variety of kitchen duties as assigned in a quality manner. Responsibilities include:

1. Assembling prepared foods accurately for regular or modified diet trays, safely delivering trays to serving areas or patients, and returning trays to the clean-up area.
2. Preparing and serving between-meal nourishments for patients.
3. Working alone or as part of a team effectively on a moving assembly line in the main kitchen.
4. Safely tending and loading machines that clean food-service items or hand washing non-machine washable items.
5. Delivering clean dishes and utensils to proper kitchen units.
6. Thoroughly cleaning work areas, tables, and cabinets, observing infection control practices at all times.
7. Washing and cleaning fruits and vegetables, peeling, dicing, shredding, or slicing using kitchen utensils.
8. Preparing sandwiches or other dishes as needed.
9. Maintaining good working relationships within the department and with other departments, treating patients and families with respect and dignity.
10. Preparing desserts and appetizers, such as fruit cups and portioned pies.
11. Performing other duties as trained, ensuring patient safety and reducing healthcare errors.
