Job Description
Provides personal care and professional excellence by performing a variety of kitchen duties as assigned in a quality manner. Responsibilities include:
- Assembling prepared foods accurately for regular or modified diet trays, safely delivering trays to serving areas or patients, and returning trays to the clean-up area.
- Preparing and serving between-meal nourishments for patients.
- Working alone or as part of a team effectively on a moving assembly line in the main kitchen.
- Safely tending and loading machines that clean food-service items or hand washing non-machine washable items.
- Delivering clean dishes and utensils to proper kitchen units.
- Thoroughly cleaning work areas, tables, and cabinets, observing infection control practices at all times.
- Washing and cleaning fruits and vegetables, peeling, dicing, shredding, or slicing using kitchen utensils.
- Preparing sandwiches or other dishes as needed.
- Maintaining good working relationships within the department and with other departments, treating patients and families with respect and dignity.
- Preparing desserts and appetizers, such as fruit cups and portioned pies.
- Performing other duties as trained, ensuring patient safety and reducing healthcare errors.
