Job summary

Advocate South Suburban Hospital - Food and Nutrition is seeking a part-time Dietary Service worker to support patient, cafeteria, and catering meals. Candidates must be available every other weekend and every other holiday after training, with shifts between 11:00 AM and 8:30 PM.

The role pays $18.85–$28.30 per hour and involves food prep, serving, stocking, and patient interaction in a regulated healthcare environment. Prior food service experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or 1 year related experience.
• Good Verbal & written communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand/walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and assembles food in accordance with established recipes and guidelines.
• Monitors and documents food temperatures as assigned.
• Stocks patient floor kitchenettes with bulk nourishment and supplies.
• Serves food to patients, employees and guests using proper portion control.
• Distributes food and trays according to dietary procedures.
• Keeps trayline refrigerators stocked and replenishes as needed.
• Interacts with patients to assist with menu selection according to diet prescriptions.
