Job summary

The DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a Dietary Aide / Food Service Worker to assist with meal preparation, tray assembly, delivery, and kitchen cleanup in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Under direct supervision, you will support residents with meals, follow established procedures, and maintain high standards of food safety and service.

CPR certification is required upon hire, with 1–3 weeks of training provided. Shift is 4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Prepare minor food items, nourishments, and snacks.

• Operate kitchen tools and maintain clean work areas.
• Record resident meal intakes and maintain safety standards.

The DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a Dietary Aide / Food Service Worker to join our team and help ensure residents receive nutritious meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

About the Role

Under direct supervision, you will assist with food preparation, tray assembly, meal delivery, cleaning, and dish room responsibilities. This role plays a vital part in maintaining high standards of care and service for our residents.

Schedule

4:30 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare minor food items, nourishments, and snacks
• Participate in tray-line setup, assembly, and meal delivery
• Assist residents with tray preparation following established procedures
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, dining areas, carts, pots, pans, and utensils
• Operate kitchen tools and equipment safely (dish machine, blenders, ovens, etc.)
• Sweep, mop, remove trash, and perform routine and special cleaning duties
• Note and record resident meal intakes
• Adhere to dress code and maintain a neat, professional appearance
• Attend required meetings, in-services, and orientation
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, and follow oral and written English instructions
• Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Positive and respectful communication with residents, families, and coworkers
• Ability to perform repetitive, physically demanding, and detail-oriented work
• No previous experience required - 1-3 weeks of training provided
• Current CPR certification required
• Must complete ongoing in-service education and orientation
• Physical exam and two tuberculin skin tests required within 10 days of hire
• Ability to safely perform all essential job functions, with or without accommodation
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships at all levels

Pay

$16.19 per hour

Work Environment

• Primarily indoors in a kitchen and dining area
• Exposure to residents, families, water, steam, and food
• Well-lit and climate-controlled facility

Emergency Responsibilities

All team members must understand and follow facility emergency procedures and be able to assist with evacuations and safety-related tasks as needed.
