Job summary

The DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a dependable Dietary Aide / Food Service Worker to help serve nutritious meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Under supervision, you will assist with food preparation, tray assembly, meal delivery, and kitchen cleaning while adhering to safety and health standards; no prior experience required, with 1-3 weeks of training provided. The role is on-site in DeKalb, IL, with a part-time evening schedule.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, and follow oral and written English instructions.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Positive and respectful communication with residents, families, and coworkers.
• Ability to perform repetitive, physically demanding, and detail-oriented work.
• No previous experience required - 1-3 weeks of training provided.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Must complete ongoing in-service education and orientation.
• Physical exam and two tuberculin skin tests required within 10 days of hire.
• Ability to safely perform all essential job functions, with or without accommodation.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Prepare minor food items, nourishments, and snacks

• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, dining areas, carts, pots, pans, and utensils
• Operate kitchen tools and equipment safely (dish machine, blenders, ovens, etc.)
• Sweep, mop, remove trash, and perform routine and special cleaning duties
• Note and record resident meal intakes
• Adhere to dress code and maintain a neat, professional appearance
• Attend required meetings, in-services, and orientation
• Perform additional duties as assigned

The DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a Dietary Aide / Food Service Worker to join our team and help ensure residents receive nutritious meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

About the Role

Under direct supervision, you will assist with food preparation, tray assembly, meal delivery, cleaning, and dish room responsibilities. This role plays a vital part in maintaining high standards of care and service for our residents.

Schedule

4:30 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

Pay

$16.19 per hour

Work Environment

• Primarily indoors in a kitchen and dining area
• Exposure to residents, families, water, steam, and food
• Well-lit and climate-controlled facility

Emergency Responsibilities

All team members must understand and follow facility emergency procedures and be able to assist with evacuations and safety-related tasks as needed.
