Job description

Dietary Aide - Palm Valley Post Acute (Food Services)

General Purpose

The dietary aide's assignments are determined based on the activity of the shift. He/she reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor.

Essential Duties
  1. Learn food service routines quickly.
  2. Set up meal trays.
  3. Strip down returned trays and wash dishes.
  4. Assist with serving meals.
  5. Check and record water temperature and chlorine concentration of the dishwashing machine at the start of the shift.
  6. Monitor water temperatures during dishwashing cycles.
  7. Operate the dishwasher.
  8. Prepare nourishments and snacks.
  9. Sweep and mop the kitchen.
  10. Handle trash and garbage.
  11. Store groceries safely, orderly, and cleanly.
  12. Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment and assist the cook or dietary supervisor as needed.
  13. Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
  14. Sweep, mop, and maintain floors.
  15. Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
  16. Work cooperatively with personnel across departments.
Supervisory Requirements

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Language Skills

Ability to read technical procedures, follow recipes, and communicate effectively with managers and staff.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various formats.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must obtain and maintain a food handler's certificate.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Visual acuity for close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment
