Job summary

Pearl of Evanston in Evanston, IL is seeking a Dietary Aide to assist in meal preparation and service under the Dietary Manager. You will support the cook, ensure meals meet schedules and dietary orders, and help with tray cards and dining room setup.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required or equivalent.
• Previous institutional dietary service experience preferred.
• Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards and work assignments.
• Show willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Numerical accountability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals; good motor coordination and manual dexterity required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
• Follow established reporting procedures for supplies and equipment needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform defined work routines using dietary utensils and equipment as assigned.
• Provide assistance to the cook in meal preparation and service.
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department policies.
• Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Arrange tray cards, load food carts and serve meals.
• Set up dining room and serve residents.
• Wash and store dishes.
• Follow reporting procedures for supplies and equipment.
• Assist in receiving and storing food supplies.
• Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow procedures during drills and emergencies.
