Job summary

Garden City Healthcare Center is hiring a Full-Time Dietary Aide to help prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents and contribute to a welcoming dining experience.

The ideal candidate is dependable, with a focus on food safety, sanitation, and resident service. Must be able to work weekends/holidays as scheduled and maintain confidentiality of health information.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Food Handler Card or other required food-safety certification must be maintained.
• Ability to follow menus, diet instructions, safety procedures, and cleaning schedules.
• Strong communication, customer-service, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and serving meals according to approved menus and resident dietary requirements.
• Assemble resident meal trays with the correct foods, portions, beverages, and utensils.
• Follow instructions for therapeutic diets, altered food textures, allergies, and resident preferences.
• Deliver and collect meal trays in a timely and courteous manner.
• Assist residents during meal service as directed.
• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, kitchen equipment, and serving carts.
• Clean and maintain kitchen, dining, food-storage, and work areas.
• Report resident meal concerns, equipment problems, and supply needs to the Dietary Supervisor.

Garden City Healthcare Center is seeking a dependable and caring Full-Time Dietary Aide to join our team. In this role, you will help prepare and serve nutritious meals while creating a positive and welcoming dining experience for our residents.

The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, and committed to maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, and resident service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and serving meals according to approved menus and resident dietary requirements.
• Assemble resident meal trays with the correct foods, portions, beverages, and utensils.
• Follow instructions for therapeutic diets, altered food textures, allergies, and resident preferences.
• Deliver and collect meal trays in a timely and courteous manner.
• Assist residents during meal service as directed.
• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, kitchen equipment, and serving carts.
• Clean and maintain kitchen, dining, food-storage, and work areas.
• Follow proper food-handling, labeling, dating, storage, and temperature-control procedures.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing food and supplies.
• Follow established cleaning schedules, infection-prevention practices, and safety procedures.
• Report resident meal concerns, equipment problems, and supply needs to the Dietary Supervisor.
• Work cooperatively with dietary, nursing, and other facility staff.
• Maintain residents' privacy and the confidentiality of their health information.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous food-service, restaurant, healthcare, or long-term-care experience preferred.
• Food Handler Card or other required food-safety certification must be maintained.
• Ability to follow menus, diet instructions, safety procedures, and cleaning schedules.
• Strong communication, customer-service, and teamwork skills.
• Dependable attendance and a positive, resident-focused attitude.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with reasonable accommodations as needed.
