Job summary

Garden City Healthcare Center is hiring a dependable Full-Time Dietary Aide to help prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents. You will ensure food safety, assist with meal service, and collaborate with dietary and nursing staff to support resident well-being.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and serving meals per menus and dietary needs.
• Assemble resident meal trays with proper foods and portions.

• Deliver and collect meal trays in a courteous manner.
• Maintain hygiene of kitchen, dining and storage areas.
• Follow cleaning schedules and infection control practices.
• Report concerns to Dietary Supervisor.

Pay Range: $17.48–$17.50 per hour, based on experience

Garden City Healthcare Center is seeking a dependable and caring Full-Time Dietary Aide to join our team. In this role, you will help prepare and serve nutritious meals while creating a positive and welcoming dining experience for our residents.

The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, and committed to maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, and resident service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and serving meals according to approved menus and resident dietary requirements.
• Assemble resident meal trays with the correct foods, portions, beverages, and utensils.
• Follow instructions for therapeutic diets, altered food textures, allergies, and resident preferences.
• Deliver and collect meal trays in a timely and courteous manner.
• Assist residents during meal service as directed.
• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, kitchen equipment, and serving carts.
• Clean and maintain kitchen, dining, food-storage, and work areas.
• Follow proper food-handling, labeling, dating, storage, and temperature-control procedures.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing food and supplies.
• Follow established cleaning schedules, infection-prevention practices, and safety procedures.
• Report resident meal concerns, equipment problems, and supply needs to the Dietary Supervisor.
• Work cooperatively with dietary, nursing, and other facility staff.
• Maintain residents’ privacy and the confidentiality of their health information.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous food-service, restaurant, healthcare, or long-term-care experience preferred.
• Food Handler Card or other required food-safety certification must be maintained.
• Ability to follow menus, diet instructions, safety procedures, and cleaning schedules.
• Strong communication, customer-service, and teamwork skills.
• Dependable attendance and a positive, resident-focused attitude.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with reasonable accommodations as needed.
