Job summary

Grace Cottage Hospital is seeking a Dietary Aide to assist the dietitian in providing the right nutrition to patients. You will help organize and prepare meals, keep the kitchen clean and safe, and ensure compliance with safety rules and dietary requirements.

You will collaborate with the Dietary Director, dietitians, and other departments as needed. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, English proficiency, and the ability to follow recipes.

Qualifications

• Education/ Experience: High school graduate or equivalent. Experience in Food Safety desired, but not necessary. ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety training or willingness to get certified in a food safety program.
• Other Requirements: Minimum 18 years of age and be able to read, write and speak English. Ability to follow standardized recipes. Ability to calculate fluid restrictions, carbohydrate counting and diet modifications.

• May provide training and orientation of new staff, as needed.

• Evaluates own performance, including annual competency review. Maintains professional/technical competency and demonstrates this within their job performance.
• Participate in monthly staff meetings/in-services and other committees as appropriate.
• Ability to work without immediate supervision.
• Responsible for organizing and preparing food production needs for patients, staff and functions.
• Promotes and responsible for cost containment through appropriate use of physical and material resources.
• Help to be responsible for ensuring safety and sanitation of the kitchen, maintaining quality control functions and compliance with regulatory agencies and therapeutic diets.
• May be asked to collect payment during lunchtime meals.
• Prepares meals and baked goods in accordance with standardized recipes, customer dietary needs, Servsafe and CMS preparation guidelines, and departmental, state and federal health regulations.
• Cleans and sanitize all equipment and work areas in accordance with Servsafe, CMS guidelines, and departmental, state and including but not limited to food quality, par levels and effective communication with Dietary Director.
