Qualifications
- Grade 10 (Manitoba Standards)
- Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or willing to obtain within 6 months
- Other combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other IT
- Demonstrated dexterity, speed, and efficient work methods
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Manager or Supervisor of Nutrition Services and coordination with the Cook, Lead Hand, or Clerk, the Dietary Aide performs activities related to food service, emphasizing portion control, waste management, sanitation, and safety. Ensures food preparation meets menu and therapeutic specifications, maintains cleanliness, monitors food temperatures, and operates cash register procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in training and orientation of staff and students.
- Ensure familiarity with diets, reference materials, and technical terms used in Nutrition Services.
- Adhere to menus and guidelines for therapeutic diets.
- Make menu modifications as directed.
- Assist with food prep, including toast, cereal, salads, sandwiches, desserts, and beverages.
- Serve meals according to standards and guidelines.
- Deliver food and clear trays.
- Set, clear, and sanitize dining areas.
- Prepare and deliver catered items.
- Perform cashier duties.
- Wash dishes and maintain sanitation.
- Maintain cleanliness of Nutrition Services areas and equipment.
- Follow safety procedures for equipment and tasks.
- Manage supplies and inventory.
- Participate in quality control and audits.
- Sundry duties as assigned.
