POSITION SUMMARY:

Dietary aides prepare and serve food based on the nutritional needs of their patients. They perform tasks to ensure the timely preparation and delivery of nutritious, attractive meals and supplements to all residents according to physician’s orders and in compliance with Federal, State, and Company Requirements. Maintains a safe and sanitary work environment.

SPECIFIC EDUCATION/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • A high school diploma with one to two years of experience in food handling, nutritional care, and hospitality service.
  • Dietary aides should have a food handler’s permit.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand spoken English to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients and visitors.
  • Must provide verification of TST (tuberculin skin test) as required by law. TSTs will be administered at the work site if needed.
JOB SKILLS:
  • Physical dexterity to prepare food, push carts, carry trays, and lift, pull, push, and bend as needed.
  • Hygienic practices to handle food safely and maintain cleanliness.
  • Time management to adhere to meal schedules and ensure timely service.
  • Food handling experience following recipes and safety regulations.
  • Friendly demeanor for positive interaction with guests and patients.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Provide high-quality, compassionate service respecting residents’ needs and rights.
  • Follow established schedules and prepare food based on nutritional needs.
  • Inspect food trays and ensure meals meet dietary requirements.
  • Follow recipes, prepare and serve food in a sanitary manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.
  • Properly dispose of waste and ensure utensils are clean.
  • Maintain inventory and track supplies, discarding expired items.
  • Attend meetings and in-services as required.
  • Report issues promptly and promote teamwork.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
