Job summary

Pearl of Elk Grove is seeking a Dietary Aide to perform designated work and cleaning routines in the Dietary Department and assist the cook in meal preparation and service. The role reports to the Dietary Manager and requires adherence to Federal and State regulations and HIPAA policies.

The ideal candidate is a High School graduate with the ability to read recipes and diet orders, handle routine tasks with interruptions, and flexibly work hours, including emergencies.

Qualifications

• High School graduate and institutional dietary service experience preferred.
• Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards and work assignments.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Numerical accountability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents; good motor coordination and manual dexterity.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform defined work routines using dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
• Provide assistance to the cook in the preparation and service of meals.
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department policies.
• Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts and serving meals.
• Setting up the dining room and serving the residents.
• Wash and store dishes.
• Follow established reporting procedures for supplies and equipment needs.
• Report any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair; report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment.
• Assist in receiving and storing food supplies.
• Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow procedures during drills and emergencies.
• Follow facility Infection Control Policy.
• Ensure residents are treated with fairness, kindness, dignity and respect.
• Report grievances and complaints to the Dietary Manager.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Accept assigned duties cooperatively.
• Possess accountability for all data in the handbook.
• Perform other department duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
• Maintains highest standards of sanitation and safe work environment.
