Job summary

Apploi in Virginia Beach seeks a Dietary Aide to assist in meal preparation and service for residents. You will help with salads, baked goods, and special diets under supervision of the Dietary Technician, ensuring proper temperatures, labeling, and inventory management.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to read/write, and adherence to health regulations. ServeSafe certification is preferred. On-site facility orientation is provided.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible for hire and receive facility orientation.
• Lift up to 20 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Must be able to bend, kneel, climb a step stool, and reach.
• Must be able to read and write.
• ServeSafe certification within last two years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing meals as scheduled on menus prepared by a certified dietician.
• Help prepare advance items like salads, baked goods, and gelatin.
• Assist in meal modification per resident diet orders.
• Assist in meal service as directed by the Dietary Technician.
• Ensure foods are stored and served at appropriate temperatures.
• Check coolers for dated items, label, and dispose if out of date.
• Help manage food inventory by rotating stock.
• Prepare snacks for service by aides three times per day.
• Respect resident rights while preparing and serving meals.
• Abide by health and environmental health regulations.
• Assist with cleaning kitchen and dining areas.
• Ensure all equipment is cleaned and checked.
• Clean floors in kitchen and dining areas.
• Cooperate with dietary technician and other staff.
• Understand and follow safety policies and emergency plans.
• Participate in required job-related training.
• Perform other duties as delegated by supervisor.

Description

1. To assist in preparing meals as scheduled on the dietary menus prepared by a certified dietician.
2. Help to prepare items that can be made in advance under the direction of the dietary technician, such as salads, baked goods, and gelatin.
3. To assist in preparing special or modified diets as ordered on the dietary menus and in accordance with the diet ordered for each resident.
4. To assist in meal service as directed by the Dietary Technician.
5. Assure that foods are stored and served at appropriate temperatures.
6. Check coolers for dated items, making sure all items are labeled correctly, and dispose of them if out-dated.
7. Help to manage food inventory by rotating stock, as directed by the dietary technician.
8. To assist in preparing snacks as ordered on the dietary menu for service by aides three times per day.
9. Respect all resident rights while preparing and serving meals.
10. Abide by the rules and regulations set by the department of health and human services and the department of environmental health.
11. To assist with cleaning all kitchen and dining room areas, and special assigned cleaning tasks as instructed by the dietary technician.
12. Make sure that all cooking materials and resident dinnerware is cleaned after each meal, and that the cleaning equipment is working properly.
13. Assist in cleaning floors in kitchen and dining room area.
14. Cooperate with other staff members, especially the dietary technician.
15. Understand and comply with all safety policy and procedures and become familiar with emergency plans within the facility
16. Participate in job-related training activities which are required by the Administration.
17. Perform other job-related duties that are delegated by the supervisor and/or Administration.
