Job summary

Delmar Nursing & Rehabilitation is seeking a Dietary Aide to support meal preparation, portioning, tray setup, and safe serving in accordance with infection control procedures.

You will assist the Food Service Director and dietary staff to meet residents’ therapeutic diets and preferences, while maintaining sanitation and a tidy work area. This role is part-time with opportunities for additional shifts in a dynamic facility.

Qualifications

• 1 year of dietary or food service experience preferred.
• Ability to follow therapeutic diet instructions and meal tickets.
• Commitment to sanitation and infection-control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Aids in all dietary functions according to policies to ensure quality service.
• Prepares portions and serves food items and beverages as required.
• Prepares and delivers nourishment to units in a safe, sanitary manner.
• Sets up trays per prescribed diets using meal tickets.
• Assists with meal setup according to diet cards and resident needs.
• Stores items and supplies according to procedure and maintains sanitary conditions.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS (Including but not limited to)

• Aids in all dietary functions as instructed, in accordance with policies and procedures to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times
• Prepares portions and serves appropriate and adequate amounts of food items, beverages and desserts for meal service according to infection control procedures.
• Prepares and delivers nourishment to the units at appropriate times according to procedure in a safe and sanitary manner.
• Sets up trays and/or place settings according to prescribed therapeutic diets using meal tickets according to procedure in a timely, safe and sanitary manner.
• Assists with meal set-up at mealtime according to the diet card, considering therapeutic diets, food preferences and consistencies to meet each resident’s individual dietary needs.
• Stores all food items and supplies according to procedure including the storage of chemicals.
• Stocks all needed items in appropriate quantities for proper functioning of the Dietary Department.
• Prepares, washes, sanitizes and properly handles dishes and utensils and cooking utensils according to procedure in a timely, safe and sanitary manner.
• Operates, cleans and sanitizes any equipment or carts utilized according to procedure in a safe and sanitary manner.
• Cleans food service working area as assigned according to posted work and cleaning schedules. Maintains a neat, clean and orderly work environment including trash removal and cleaning of trash receptacles.
• Understands and complies with the posted work schedule.
• Attends scheduled in-service education programs.
• Discusses any problems, needs or concerns regarding the Dietary Department with the Food Service Director.
• Assumes responsibility in supporting the Food Service Manager in promoting and maintaining positive employee relations and effective communications among facility staff.
• Understands and adheres to all safety, sanitation, fire, disaster and personnel policies and procedures of the facility.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.
