Job description

General Purpose

The dietary aide's assignments are determined based on the activity level during the shift. He/she reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor.

Essential Duties

1. Learn food service routines quickly.
2. Set up meal trays.
3. Strip down returned trays and start washing dishes.
4. Assist with serving different meals.
5. Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at the beginning of each shift.
6. Monitor water temperatures during dishwasher cycles.
7. Prepare nourishments and snacks.
8. Sweep and mop the kitchen.
9. Handle trash and garbage.
10. Store groceries safely and in an organized manner.
11. Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment and assist the cook or dietary supervisor as needed.
12. Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
13. Sweep, mop, and maintain floors.
14. Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
15. Work cooperatively with personnel across departments.
