Position Summary: The Dietary Aide performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide is accountable to the Cook. Must be 18 years or older to apply. COVID vaccine is required.
Qualifications:
- High School graduate and previous institutional dietary service experience preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards, and work assignments.
- Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Numerical accountability for recipe preparation, measuring cleaning agents, and chemicals; good motor coordination and manual dexterity for preparing food, serving, handling dishes, operating equipment, and cleaning.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including during emergencies. Patience and tolerance toward staff, residents, and family members.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routines using dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned.
- Assist the cook in meal preparation and service.
- Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
- Follow federal and state long-term care regulations and departmental policies.
- Perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
- Assist with tray setup, food cart loading, and meal serving.
- Set up dining areas and serve residents.
- Wash and store dishes.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Report supplies, equipment needs, and any safety or maintenance issues.
- Assist with receiving and storing food supplies.
- Understand and follow fire, disaster, and infection control procedures.
- Ensure residents are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Report grievances and maintain HIPAA compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
