Job description

The dietary aide assignments are determined based on the needs of the activity during the shift. He/she reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor.

Essential Duties
  • Must be able to learn food service routines quickly.
  • Set up meal trays.
  • Strip down returned trays and start washing dishes.
  • Assist with serving different meals.
  • Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at the beginning of the shift.
  • Observe water temperatures of the dishwasher during cycles.
  • Operate the dishwasher.
  • Prepare nourishments and snacks.
  • Sweep and mop the kitchen.
  • Carry out trash and garbage disposal.
  • Store groceries safely and neatly.
  • Leave the kitchen clean and sanitary; assist the cook or dietary supervisor as needed.
  • Clean work surfaces and refrigerators.
  • Maintain floors by sweeping and mopping.
  • Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
  • Work cooperatively with personnel across all departments.
Supervisory Requirements

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
  • Effective communication skills with managers and staff.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret instructions in various formats.
  • Must obtain and maintain a food handler's certificate.
Physical Demands

Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling, talking, smelling, and tasting. Lifting up to 50 pounds frequently. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Good vision for distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a setting with low to moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

Compensation

Pay ranges from $16.28 to $20.00 per hour, depending on experience and education. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, overtime, premiums, incentives, or bonuses.
