Job summary

Avalon Care Center Portland is looking for a part-time kitchen assistant to support daily meal preparation and service in our Portland, OR facility. The role emphasizes safe food handling, cleanliness, and patient-focused service.

You will work with a compassionate team to maintain sanitary dining areas, assist in meal setup, and ensure accurate portions while adhering to safety standards and schedules.

Qualifications

• Current Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification (as required).
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Strong customer service and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work well with residents, families, and staff.
• Ability to pass required screenings and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize dishes.
• Assist with food preparation and meal service.
• Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen and dining areas.
• Prepare tray line and service equipment for meals.
• Ensure accurate portions and meal items are served.
• Monitor food temperatures and sanitation standards.
• Assist with tray presentation and meal delivery setup.
• Track meal counts and report shortages or overages.
