Job summary

Covenant Living Communities and Services is seeking a Dietary Aide to prepare and deliver meals for residents, ensuring nutrition needs are met under supervision of Dietitians and kitchen leadership.

You will assist with meal service, maintain cleanliness, and uphold safety standards while delivering compassionate care to seniors across shifts. Requires high school diploma and a Food Handler’s Permit; ServSafe training is a plus.

  • Assist in setting up and clearing dining areas with attention to cleanliness and order.
  • Follow all sanitation guidelines and safety regulations.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed.
  • Provide customer service and hospitality during nutrition delivery.

Job description

We Are Inspired to Serve. Join us! The Dietary Aide, or Nutrition Aide, is responsible for preparing and delivering healthy meals and ensuring that patients have the proper foods based on their needs. They work closely with Dietitians, providing details on allergies or restrictions to create plans accordingly.

Prepare food according to instructions while adhering strictly to safety and health standards. Uses strong attention to detail for all meal preparation to ensure patients receive appropriate food and nutritional needs. Applies effective communication skills since they work directly with patients, Dietitians, and other medical professionals. Dietary Aids work with patients to ensure they get the nutrition they need throughout the day, guided by a lead Dietitian or Chef who oversees the distribution of food and drinks to patients throughout the shift.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service, including serving food under the guidance of the Chef or Dietitian.
  • Deliver dishes, trays, and designated times and rooms.
  • Assist in setting up and clearing up dining areas with attention to cleanliness and order including dish, tray, trash, and leftover removals.
  • Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal/state regulations, and Senior Living/Healthcare requirements. Maintain cleanliness of prep items.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed.
  • Provide customer service and hospitality during nutrition delivery.
Education and Work Experience

Required Degree: High school diploma.

  • Current Food Handler’s Permit is required.
  • Training in ServSafe is beneficial.
  • Desired is one (1) year of food service experience including serving/waiting tables, cleaning and kitchen sanitation protocols, and basic food/meal prep.

  • Ability to work with all people and must have the ability to get along and socialize with them. This includes employees, residents, families, visitors, vendors, other health care professionals and the community at large.
Physical Requirements
  • May be required to lift or carry equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, pulling/pushing, and extended periods walking and/or standing.
  • May be required to stand, sit, twist, bend, squat, kneel or crouch when performing job duties.
  • Must possess adequate sight and hearing to meet the responsibilities of this position.
Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $14.44 - $18.80 per hour.
