Job summary

Alameda Center in New Jersey is seeking a Dietary Aide to support our dining services and help maintain clean, sanitary food areas, facilities and equipment. You may assist in some aspects of food preparation and serve residents with warmth and professionalism.

Responsibilities include taking meals to designated areas, following diet lists, portioning foods, and ensuring a pleasant presentation while observing safety and sanitation policies.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of the methods and techniques of handling and serving food.
• Working knowledge of sanitation practices relating to food handling.
• Ability to follow diet lists, portion food as specified and serve food in an appetizing manner.
• Ability to interact positively with residents, families, visitors and staff.
• Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral directions in English.
• Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.

Responsibilities

• Reports at assigned time, in uniform, ready for duty.
• Handles food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures.
• Is aware of safety regulations and responsibilities in operating all equipment.
• Delivers food carts, trays, etc. to designated areas, including resident rooms and dining room, as instructed by supervisor.
• Serve – in dining rooms.
• Prepare and deliver snacks as directed.
• Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Reports any discrepancies in his/her area to department supervisor.
• Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.
• Performs related work as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Food Service Aide performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities and equipment. He/she may also assist in some aspects of food preparation.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITLES

1 Reports at assigned time, in uniform, ready for duty;

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/ VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

1 Ability to read, write, and understand directions in English language. Previous Food Service Aide experience is helpful.
