Position Summary

The Dietary Aide performs various unskilled duties assisting in all kitchen areas. Under the supervision of the Dietary Manager or Assistant Manager, and responsible to the Director of Dietary.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak and follow simple oral directions
• Reading and writing skills
• Ability to cooperate and work well with others
• Knowledge of modified diets
• Some cooking knowledge
• Possession of Food Handler's Certificate may be required
• Willingness to perform simple, repetitive tasks

Duties and Responsibilities

• Stand and walk short distances during work
• Lift 50 to 60 pounds as needed
• Handle dishes, glassware, pots, and pans
• Push food carts
• Operate kitchen equipment safely
• Bend, stoop, squat, and twist regularly
• Perform cleaning tasks such as mopping
• Maintain mental alertness for job requirements
• Respond to auditory and visual cues from patients and staff
• Work safely around kitchen equipment and wet floors
• Work in well-lit, noisy, warm, moist, and odorous environments
• Withstand heat around stoves and ovens, cold in refrigerated areas, and temperature changes
• No medical conditions that endanger self or others during work
