Job summary

ALIYA of Palatine is seeking a compassionate Dietary Aide to support residents with high-quality meals and nutrition services in a team-based facility.

You will prepare and serve meals according to menus and dietary orders, maintain a clean kitchen, and assist with stocking, safety, and resident dining experiences.

This part-time, on-site role offers opportunities to contribute to resident well-being and collaborate with the Dietary Team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in food service, dietary, or healthcare is preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is preferred.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or carry food carts and supplies.
• Strong customer service and resident-focused attitude.
• Must follow infection prevention and OSHA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review, prepare, and serve meals per menus, recipes, and diet orders.
• Prepare and serve snacks and substitutes for residents.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen and follow sanitation standards.
• Perform dishwashing and ensure utensils and equipment are ready.
• Deliver meals to resident areas and serve in dining room.
• Assist with stocking supplies and inventory.
• Report equipment concerns or safety hazards promptly.
• Collaborate with the Dietary Team to ensure quality dining.

Dietary Aide

Responsibilities

• Review, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with planned menus, standardized recipes, therapeutic diets, and special diet orders

• Prepare and serve residents' nutritional bedtime snacks and provide approved substitute foods for residents who decline scheduled meals

• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment while following all Infection Prevention and Control standards

• Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures, ensuring utensils, cookware, and equipment are cleaned and available for the next meal service

• Prepare and deliver snacks, food carts, and meal trays to designated resident areas

• Serve food and beverages in the dining room in a courteous and professional manner

• Sweep and mop kitchen, dining, and dish room floors as directed by the supervisor

• Assist with stocking supplies and maintaining inventory as assigned

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and OSHA guidelines

• Report equipment concerns or safety hazards to the Dietary Manager promptly

• Work collaboratively with the Dietary Team to provide an excellent dining experience for residents

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Previous food service, dietary, restaurant, or healthcare experience preferred

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is preferred

• Ability to properly use and care for dietary equipment and supplies

• Ability to perform routine cleaning and sanitation duties

• Strong customer service skills with a compassionate and resident-focused attitude

• Patience, dependability, and a positive team-oriented approach

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, push, or carry food carts and supplies as needed

• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of residents, staff, or others in the workplace
