Job summary

ALIYA of Palatine is seeking a Dietary Aide to support residents with quality meals and nutrition services in a team environment.

You will review menus, prepare and serve meals and snacks, keep a clean, safe kitchen, and follow food safety guidelines. This part-time role is located in Palatine, IL with opportunities to contribute to a compassionate dining program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in food service, dietary, restaurant, or healthcare preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is preferred.
• Ability to use and care for dietary equipment.
• Ability to perform routine cleaning and sanitation duties.
• Strong customer service and resident-focused attitude.
• Positive team-oriented approach.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift, push, or carry food carts.
• Must not pose a direct health or safety threat.

Responsibilities

• Review, prepare, and serve meals per menus and diets.
• Prepare and serve bedtime snacks and substitutes.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized kitchen following standards.
• Wash dishes and keep utensils and equipment ready.
• Deliver snacks, carts, and meal trays to resident areas.
• Serve food in dining room courteously.
• Sweep and mop kitchen and dining areas as directed.
• Stock supplies and help with inventory.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and OSHA guidelines.
• Report equipment or safety concerns to Dietary Manager.
• Collaborate with Dietary Team to provide excellent dining.

Dietary Aide

As a Dietary Aide, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our residents receive high-quality food and nutrition services. Responsibilities

• Review, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with planned menus, standardized recipes, therapeutic diets, and special diet orders

• Prepare and serve residents' nutritional bedtime snacks and provide approved substitute foods for residents who decline scheduled meals

• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment while following all Infection Prevention and Control standards

• Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures, ensuring utensils, cookware, and equipment are cleaned and available for the next meal service

• Prepare and deliver snacks, food carts, and meal trays to designated resident areas

• Serve food and beverages in the dining room in a courteous and professional manner

• Sweep and mop kitchen, dining, and dish room floors as directed by the supervisor

• Assist with stocking supplies and maintaining inventory as assigned

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and OSHA guidelines

• Report equipment concerns or safety hazards to the Dietary Manager promptly

• Work collaboratively with the Dietary Team to provide an excellent dining experience for residents

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Previous food service, dietary, restaurant, or healthcare experience preferred

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is preferred

• Ability to properly use and care for dietary equipment and supplies

• Ability to perform routine cleaning and sanitation duties

• Strong customer service skills with a compassionate and resident-focused attitude

• Patience, dependability, and a positive team-oriented approach

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, push, or carry food carts and supplies as needed

• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of residents, staff, or others in the workplace
