Position Summary: The Dietary Aide performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide is accountable to the Cook.
Qualifications for a Dietary Aide:
- High School graduate and previous institutional dietary service experience preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards, and work assignments.
- Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Numerical accountability for recipe preparation and measuring cleaning agents; good motor coordination and manual dexterity for food prep, serving, and cleaning tasks.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including during emergencies; patience and tolerance towards staff, residents, and family members.
Duties of a Dietary Aide:
- Perform work routines using dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment as assigned.
- Assist the cook in meal preparation and service.
- Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
- Follow federal and state regulations and departmental policies.
- Perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
- Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
- Set up the dining room and serve residents.
- Wash and store dishes.
- Report supply and equipment needs, damages, or safety issues.
- Assist in receiving and storing food supplies.
- Understand and follow fire and disaster plans.
- Follow infection control policies.
- Ensure residents are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Report grievances, maintain HIPAA compliance, and accept assigned duties cooperatively.
- Maintain sanitation and a safe work environment.
