Job summary

Cranberry House is seeking a friendly Dietary Aide to join our culinary team and help provide nutritious meals to residents. You will assist with meal preparation, serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience while upholding food safety standards.

The role supports compassionate senior care, requires a high school diploma, and values teamwork and excellent communication. Prior food service experience is preferred but not required, and we offer comprehensive benefits and development

Responsibilities

• Meal preparation, portioning, and serving to residents per dietary plans.
• Maintain kitchen and dining area sanitation and cleanliness.
• Provide meal assistance and ensure positive dining experience.
• Follow food safety protocols and proper storage/handling.
• Assist in receiving, storing, and inventory of food/supplies.
• Collaborate with dietary team to ensure smooth operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Meal Assistance: Help prepare, portion, and serve meals to residents according to dietary plans and special requests.
• Sanitation & Cleanliness: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
• Resident Support: Provide meal assistance to residents as needed, including helping with meal setup and serving, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Food Safety: Follow all food safety protocols, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices, to ensure food is safe for consumption.
• Inventory Support: Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, checking inventory, and notifying the Dietary Manager of any shortages or supply needs.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the dietary team to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly, assisting with food prep and meal service as directed.
• Resident Engagement: Assist in fulfilling special dietary requests and ensuring residents’ individual preferences and needs are met during meal times.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Previous experience in a food service role (preferred, but not required)
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to follow directions and work efficiently as part of a team
• Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
