Job summary

Jonas Ridge Assisted Living in Newland, North Carolina is seeking a Dietary Services Assistant to support meal preparation, food storage and service, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment. You will work with the dietary technician, handle special diets, and help with inventory and service while respecting resident rights.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible for hire and receive facility orientation.
• Must be able to lift up to 20lbs, stand for long periods of time, and perform bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching tasks.
• Must be able to read and write.
• ServeSafe certification within the last two (2) years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation as scheduled, including preparing items that can be made in advance under the direction of the dietary technician
• Prepare special or modified diets as ordered on the dietary menus and in accordance with the diet ordered for each resident
• Assist with meal service as directed by the Dietary Technician
• Ensure that foods are stored and served at appropriate temperatures
• Help manage food inventory by rotating stock, as directed by the dietary technician
• Prepare snacks as ordered on the dietary menu for service by aides three times per day
• Respect all resident rights while preparing and serving meals
• Abide by the rules and regulations set by the department of health and human services and the department of environmental health
• Assist with cleaning all kitchen and dining room areas, and special assigned cleaning tasks as instructed by the dietary technician
• Ensure that all cooking materials and resident dinnerware is cleaned after each meal
• Participate in job-related training activities and perform other job-related duties as delegated by the supervisor and/or Administration
