SUMMARY: The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with food functions as directed, following established food policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Review, prepare, and serve meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and special diet orders. Prepare and serve residents' nutritional bedtime snacks and substitute foods for residents who refuse served foods. Ensure food is prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations.
2. Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the department by ensuring equipment and supplies are well-maintained. Follow infection control precautions during daily tasks.
3. Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures to ensure utensils are available for the next meal.
4. Prepare and deliver snacks, serve food and drinks in the dining room, and deliver food carts and trays to designated areas. Sweep and mop kitchen and dish areas as instructed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Careful use and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Maintain sanitation, order, and safety in food service areas.
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm. Ability to handle residents at their current maturity level.
• Willingness to learn new methods and incorporate them into food practices.
• Must not pose a health or safety threat to others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
• Good sight and hearing, or use of prosthetics to meet these senses.
• Ability to lift and move at least 25 pounds, and push/pull/move/carry such weight over distances.
• Assist in emergency evacuations if necessary.
