Summary:
The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with food functions as directed and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review, prepare, and serve meals according to planned menus with standardized recipes and special diet orders. Prepare and serve nutritional bedtime snacks and substitute foods for residents who refuse served foods. Ensure food is prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the department by ensuring equipment and supplies are well-maintained. Follow infection control precautions during daily tasks.
- Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures to ensure utensils are available for the next meal.
- Prepare and deliver snacks, serve food and drinks in the dining room, and handle food carts and trays as instructed. Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and dish area as directed.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Maintain proper use of supplies and equipment, and ensure sanitation, order, and safety in food service areas.
- Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm; ability to handle residents with maturity.
- Willingness to learn new methods and incorporate them into food practices.
- Must not pose a health or safety threat to others.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Good sight and hearing, or use of prosthetics that enable these senses.
- Ability to lift and move at least 25 pounds, and assist in emergency evacuations if needed.
