Position Summary

Coordinates the preparation and service of all meals, snacks, and supplies to clients & units served, for Northlake Behavioral Health System. Assists in general duties in the kitchen and dining areas, including cleaning, taking out trash, washing dishes, organizing storage, putting away grocery orders, and serving patients, employees, and visitors. Works closely with other dietary staff and reports to the Director of Dietary/RDN Supervisor. Assists in meal delivery daily.

Responsibilities
  • Consistently meet deadlines and complete all food preparation at specified serving times.
  • Maintain flexibility in work hours to meet patient and organizational needs.
  • Maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer service interactions.
  • Work independently in a restricted physical environment for extended periods.
  • Perform multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed per hospital requirements.
Work-related Responsibilities
  • Perform cleaning tasks: removing garbage, sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, and other duties outlined on cleaning lists.
  • Keep delivery bags clean and sanitized.
  • Label and date all foods.
  • Rotate foods using the FIFO method.
  • Help fellow employees and patients voluntarily.
  • Assist with meal services and deliveries.
  • Follow proper infection control standards regarding food temperatures and preparation.
  • Prepare foods according to diet orders and recipes.
  • Use kitchen equipment effectively, including slicers, mixers, ovens, stoves, fryers, grills, steamers, and dish machines.
  • Ensure foods are attractive and tasty.
  • Serve meals on the serving lines.
  • Record ice scoop logs, 3-compartment sink logs, and dish machine logs.
  • Implement teamwork in daily routines.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

Work Demands/Environment

Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, and move about in the work area. Must be able to finger, grasp, and feel objects. Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. Work is medium in nature, requiring occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and frequent exertion of 20 pounds, with up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, or pull objects.
