Position Summary:
In keeping with our organization’s goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve, the Dietary Aide is responsible for providing superior customer service to Residents and employees. The Dietary Aide will help ensure that the dietary department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner by assisting in all dietary functions as directed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures. The Dietary Aide will assist in the preparation of food to ensure the quality of nutritional services.
Description
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of meals and beverages.
- Participate in the food tray line and prepare trays according to diet cards to meet scheduled meal and snack times.
- Assist with loading food carts and serving meals to Residents and staff.
- Bag and store food items as directed.
- Clean and wrap silverware, inspecting each piece for cleanliness before wrapping.
- Bus and clean tables after mealtime throughout the facility.
- Scrape, wash, and rack unclean dishes and utensils.
- Assist in operating the dishwashing machine.
- Sort and stack clean dishes, inspecting for cleanliness.
- Store clean dishes, utensils, and cutlery properly.
- Participate in table setup, including setting tables and filling cups with water.
- Dispose of waste/trash into proper containers following sanitation guidelines.
- Maintain a clean work area free of hazards.
- Ensure equipment, tools, and supplies are stored properly.
- Report equipment malfunctions, supply needs, hazardous conditions, and incidents to the supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with Residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
- Attend meetings and in-services as scheduled and required for professional development.
- Follow Infection Control guidelines and promote Resident Rights.
- Perform other tasks as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- ServSafe Certification preferred.
- One year of experience as a Dietary Aide preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions, including some calculations.
- Basic knowledge of food service, sanitation, and safety.
