Dietary Aide

SUMMARY:

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with all food functions as directed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Review, prepare, and serve meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and special diet orders.
2. Prepare and serve residents' nutritional bedtime snacks and substitute foods for residents who refuse served foods.
3. Ensure food and related items are prepared following sanitary regulations.
4. Maintain a clean and safe department by ensuring equipment and supplies are properly maintained.
5. Follow the facility’s infection control precautions during daily tasks.
6. Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures to ensure utensils are available for the next meal.
7. Prepare and deliver snacks as instructed.
8. Deliver food carts and trays to designated areas.
9. Serve food and drinks in the dining room as instructed.
10. Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and dish room as directed by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
2. Maintain proper care and use of supplies and equipment, and ensure sanitation, order, and safety in food service areas.
3. Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and the ability to handle residents at their current maturity level.
4. Willingness to learn and incorporate new methods and principles into food practices.
5. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others.
