Job summary

Sterling Healthcare Management is seeking a friendly Dietary Aide to join our food service team. You will help prepare and serve meals, keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean, while interacting directly with residents. Training will be provided, and a reliable, compassionate attitude is valued.

Responsibilities include delivering trays, verifying orders, assisting with meal choices, maintaining safety and cleanliness, and supporting staff during shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; will consider all applicants.
  • Food Handler Certification required or must obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions including diet orders.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
  • Compassionate and patient when interacting with elderly residents.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and break down the dining room before and after each meal service.
  • Deliver meal trays to residents according to dietary orders and tray tickets.
  • Verify each tray is correct before delivery — right resident, right diet, every time.
  • Assist residents with meal selection and accommodate food preferences.
  • Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize food prep surfaces and dining room after meals.
  • Label, date, and store food items using FIFO rotation.
  • Monitor and record food and equipment temperatures per food safety guidelines.
  • Restock dining room and kitchen supplies as needed.
  • Report resident food refusals or low intake to the nurse or Dietary Manager promptly.

What You'll Do

Requirements

  • Prior food service experience a plus — not required
  • Food Handler Certification required or must obtain within 30 days of hire

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
