Key Responsibilities – Dietary Aide
Food Preparation
- Prepare meals and snacks following established recipes and dietary guidelines
- Assist with chopping ingredients, cooking, and portioning food
- Ensure meals meet dietary requirements and facility standards
Meal Service
- Serve meals to residents in dining rooms or resident rooms
- Ensure proper food presentation, temperature, and portion control
- Follow dietary orders and restrictions accurately for each resident
Dietary Restrictions
- Follow specialized diets including diabetic, low-sodium, pureed, mechanical soft, and allergy-restricted diets
- Ensure accuracy and safety in all meal preparation and service
Kitchen Sanitation
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Sanitize surfaces and follow infection control procedures
- Store food properly and follow safety regulations
Inventory Management
- Monitor food and supply inventory levels
- Notify supervisor when items need restocking
- Assist with proper storage and rotation of food supplies
Documentation
- Record meal intake and dietary consumption as required
- Report changes in appetite or dietary concerns to appropriate staff
Communication & Teamwork
- Collaborate with nurses, dietitians, and dietary staff
- Ensure residents receive proper nutrition according to care plans
- Communicate resident needs or concerns promptly
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous kitchen, dietary, or healthcare experience preferred but not required
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Compassionate, patient, and resident-focused attitude
- Ability to lift, carry, and stand for extended periods
