Job Description
- Assist in food preparation, meal serving, and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Registered Dietitian.
- Understand and follow procedures related to all duties or special assignments as directed by the Registered Dietitian.
- Maintain confidentiality of participant information.
- Update all participant diet information as communicated by the Registered Dietitian.
- Communicate clearly with the Registered Dietitian, staff, catering, and vendor representatives.
- Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
- Receive and store food and supplies.
- Check food and nutritional supplement items for proper rotation, storage, and re-order.
- Follow reporting procedures for:
- Observed participant concerns
- Supply and equipment needs
- Damaged, unsafe, or malfunctioning equipment
- Conditions related to vermin such as insects or rodents
Qualifications
- Friendly and enjoys working with the elderly.
- Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred, including experience with special dietary needs such as therapeutic diets, texture modifications, thickened liquids, and adaptive eating equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Food handling and safety experience is preferred.
- Numerical skills for recipe preparation and measuring cleaning agents and chemicals.
- Physical strength, endurance, and coordination to meet demands such as preparing food, carrying foods, loading meal carts, serving, dishwashing, operating dietary equipment, and cleaning work areas.
- Coordination and dexterity for safe food preparation and equipment operation.
- Ability to work in hot or cold environments.
