Job Description

1. Assist in food preparation, meal serving, and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Registered Dietitian.
2. Understand and follow procedures related to all duties or special assignments as directed by the Registered Dietitian.
3. Maintain confidentiality of participant information.
4. Update all participant diet information as communicated by the Registered Dietitian.
5. Communicate clearly with the Registered Dietitian, staff, catering, and vendor representatives.
6. Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
7. Receive and store food and supplies.
8. Check food and nutritional supplement items for proper rotation, storage, and re-order.
9. Follow reporting procedures for:
   • Observed participant concerns
   • Supply and equipment needs
   • Damaged, unsafe, or malfunctioning equipment
   • Conditions related to vermin such as insects or rodents

Qualifications

1. Friendly and enjoys working with the elderly.
2. Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred, including experience with special dietary needs such as therapeutic diets, texture modifications, thickened liquids, and adaptive eating equipment.
3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
4. Food handling and safety experience is preferred.
5. Numerical skills for recipe preparation and measuring cleaning agents and chemicals.
6. Physical strength, endurance, and coordination to meet demands such as preparing food, carrying foods, loading meal carts, serving, dishwashing, operating dietary equipment, and cleaning work areas.
7. Coordination and dexterity for safe food preparation and equipment operation.
8. Ability to work in hot or cold environments.
