Job summary

Halifax Health in Daytona Beach, FL seeks a Dietary Aide to assist in assembling, preparing and cleaning up patient meal trays. Work takes place in kitchen areas with heat, humidity and frequent standing.

You will follow the Food Code and HACCP principles, set up stations, and complete daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks. Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED and good verbal and written communication, basic math, and teamwork.

The Dietary Aide will assists in the assembly, preparation and clean-up of patient meal trays. Work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. Food service workers are regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration units. Performs work requiring light to moderate physical effort. Subject to continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing more than 40 pounds with the assistance of others.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent highly preferred
• Previous food service experience preferred
• Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
• Basic math skills required
• Ability to work well with others
• Good organizational skills and the ability to work with pre-defined time frames and deadlines
• Sets up work station with correct supplies/food items
• Assembles meal trays accurately using meal ticket and diet restrictions
