SUMMARY:
The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with all food functions as directed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review, prepare, and serve meals according to planned menus with standardized recipes and special diet orders. Prepare and serve nutritional bedtime snacks and substitute foods for residents who refuse served foods. Ensure food is prepared in accordance with sanitary regulations.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the department by ensuring equipment and supplies are properly maintained. Follow infection control precautions during daily tasks.
- Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures to ensure utensils and equipment are available for the next meal.
- Prepare and deliver snacks, and serve food and drinks in the dining room as instructed. Deliver food carts and trays to designated areas. Sweep and mop floors in the kitchen and dish room as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Maintain proper care and use of supplies and equipment. Perform regular sanitation inspections of food service areas.
- Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm. Ability to handle residents appropriately based on their maturity level.
- Willingness to learn new methods and incorporate them into existing food practices.
- Must not pose a health or safety threat to others.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Use sight and hearing, or appropriate prosthetics, to perform job duties effectively.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and lift at least 25 pounds, and carry such weight for at least 50 feet.
- Assist in resident evacuation during emergencies if needed.
