Salary Range: $19.00 - $22.00 Hourly

Description

Job Summary:

The Dietary Assistant performs formula, enteral, and meal preparation activities within established guidelines.

Schedule: Days: Saturdays and Sundays

Location: SASH

Hours: 6:00 am to 12:30 pm on both days

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Prepares all formula and enterals according to guidelines provided by Registered Dietitian.
2. Helps prepare diets for patients at CHONC under supervision of Registered Dietitian.
3. Washes hands meticulously and puts on a clean apron before any food/formula preparation.
4. Prepares afternoon and evening nourishment if needed and stores in refrigerator.
5. Reads diet orders to determine appropriate preparation of formula/enterals.
6. Distributes food items according to diet order and menu.
7. Collects and stacks dirty dishes.
8. Washes all bottles, dishes, utensils, and cleans the kitchen after food preparation.
9. Operates electric dishwasher and other mechanical equipment.
10. Cleans work areas, tables, cabinets, dining area, stove, and ovens.
11. Sweeps and mops floors.
12. Transports and stores supplies.
13. Collects and disposes of garbage and trash according to regulations, washes garbage cans.
14. Performs other related tasks as directed.
15. At end of shift, checks with Charge Nurse for additional dietary assistance needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Dietary experience in SNF or Acute Care setting preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to read, write, and speak English; follow oral and written instructions.
• Neat, clean appearance; effective teamwork with staff and patients.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, bend, stand for long periods, and carry 25-50 pounds for short distances.
