Position Summary: The Dietary Aide performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In absence of the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide is accountable to the Cook.

Qualifications:

• High School graduate and previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
• Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards and work assignments.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Numerical accountability for recipe preparation and measuring cleaning agents, with good motor coordination and manual dexterity for various routines.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including during emergencies. Patience and tolerance towards staff, residents, and families are essential.

Duties include:

• Performing work routines using dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment.
• Assisting the cook in meal preparation and service.
• Meeting scheduled meal and snack times.
• Following federal and state regulations and facility policies.
• Performing cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Assisting in arranging tray cards, loading food carts, and serving meals.
• Setting up dining areas and serving residents.
• Washing and storing dishes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reporting supply and equipment needs, damages, unsafe conditions, and vermin conducive conditions.
• Receiving and storing food supplies.
• Understanding and following fire, disaster, and infection control procedures.
• Ensuring residents are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect.
• Reporting grievances and maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
• Maintaining sanitation and a safe work environment.
