Job summary

You will assess nutritional needs, assist with menu substitutions, counsel residents, document allergies and cultural considerations, and collaborate with the Registered Dietician on diet plans and policies. The role emphasizes safety and cross‑department collaboration.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Nutrition or related field.
• 1 year experience in health care facility preferred.
• Registered Diet Tech certification preferred; works under Registered Dietician.

Responsibilities

• Assess and document nutritional needs per care plan.
• Assist with menu substitutions reviewed by RD.
• Counsel residents on dietary preferences, appetite, and therapeutic menus.
• Document residents' allergies and cultural dietary considerations.
• Evaluate serving times, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
• Advise on food service equipment and recipe yield adjustments.
• Act as liaison between dietary department and residents.
• Conduct in-service training for food service staff, nurses and aides.
• Ensure safety of residents under supervision.
• Contribute to policy changes to comply with federal, state and local requirements.

Education

Two year Associates Degree in Nutrition, Human Ecology or related degree
