Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee is seeking a Dietary Aide to support hospital dietary services. You will receive diet changes, assist with patient meals, and ensure accurate meal delivery according to current diet orders.

No prior experience is required; a high school diploma is enough. You will use basic Microsoft Office, help with tray labeling, and maintain files while working in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive diet changes throughout the day and update diet orders and orders.
• Check menus for completeness and accuracy and refer problems to the Dietitian.
• Answer room service calls and obtain patient meal selections based on current diet order.
• Print tube feedings and nourishment labels and verify accuracy.
• Maintain department files and enter supplements, tube feedings, snacks, and patient preferences.
• Explain dietary procedures and nutrition services procedures and what foods are allowed on modified diets.
• Prepare food production reports and print missed meals and tray counts.
• Inventory and order supplies or notify supervisor if supplies are needed.
• Operate cash register and handle cash transactions.

• Checks menus for completeness and accuracy; refers problems to the Dietitian.
• Answers room service phone and obtains meal selections from patients based on current diet order.
• Prints off tube feedings and nourishment labels; checks labels for accuracy.
• Maintains department files. Enters all supplements, tube feedings, snacks, other food allergies and patient preferences into the card file.
• Accurately performs duties or answers questions regarding dietary procedures, nutrition services procedures, write-ins, foods allowed on all modified diets, guest tray procedures, isolation procedures etc.
• Prepares food production reports. Prints off missed meals and tray counts.
• Inventories and orders supplies/forms or communicates need for supplies to the Manager, Supervisor or Lead.
• Operates a cash register and completes cash handling functions.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

• Must be able to walk and stand the majority of the workday.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
• Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and the ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• May be required to enter isolation rooms, therefore personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
• Exposed to a normal office environment.
