Job summary

Aramark is seeking a Diet Clerk to receive, interpret, and process patient diet orders in healthcare settings, acting as a liaison between patients, nursing staff, dietitians, and the Food & Nutrition Services Department to ensure meals meet physician-prescribed diets and personal preferences.

You will review orders, visit patients to explain meal services, ensure therapeutic diet compliance, and coordinate with the care team to support nutrition and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; English literacy required.
• Healthcare food service or nutrition experience preferred.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer systems and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Review and process patient diet orders accurately and timely.
• Visit patients to explain meal services and obtain food preferences; ensure selections comply with modified diets.
• Deliver and collect patient meal trays during meal service.
• Deliver snacks and nourishments as ordered by physicians or dietitians.
• Communicate patient requests and nutrition concerns to the team.
• Work with nursing staff, dietitians, and food service employees to support nutrition compliance.
• Maintain sanitation and food safety standards per guidelines.
• Inventory and restock unit pantries, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Maintain temperature logs and required documentation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Review and process patient diet orders accurately and timely.
• Visit patients to explain meal services and obtain food preferences. Ensure meal selections comply with therapeutic and modified diets. Deliver and collect patient meal trays during meal service.
• Deliver snacks and nourishments as ordered by physicians or dietitians.
• Communicate patient requests and nutrition concerns to the appropriate team members.
• Work closely with nursing staff, dietitians, and food service employees to ensure patient satisfaction and nutrition compliance.
• Maintain sanitation and food safety standards in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
• Inventory and restock unit pantries, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Maintain temperature logs and required documentation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Previous healthcare food service, dietary clerk, customer service, or nutrition experience preferred.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer systems and data entry.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
