Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Diet Clerk at Elmhurst Hospital to handle the room service call center, receive patient meal orders by phone, and enter orders into CBORD for transmission to the room service line.

Applicants should know menu options, diet variations, and physician-prescribed diets. Certification in Illinois Food Handler is required within 30 days; HS diploma or GED preferred with healthcare food service experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate the room service call center, answer patient meal orders by phone, and enter orders into the CBORD system.
• Be familiar with all menu offerings, diet variations, and physician-prescribed orders for patients.
• Assist with accuracy of meal delivery and communicate special dietary needs to the kitchen and nursing staff.

Hourly Pay Range:

$18.31 - $25.63 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

• Position: Diet Clerk
• Location: Elmhurst Hospital
• Per Diem, as needed
• Hours: Rotating shifts, M-F between 5:00AM - 7PM with rotating weekends and holidays

What you will do:

The Diet Clerk is responsible for operating the room service call center, answering the phone when patient calls for their meal order, and entering meal orders into the CBORD system for transmission to the room service line.

This position needs to be familiar with all menu offerings, diet variations, and specifics of what may be ordered by patients based on their physician prescribed diet.

What you will need:

• Certification : State of Illinois Food Handler Training Certificate Program (ANSI Accredited) required within 30 days of start
• Preferred : High School Diploma or GED and minimum of one year of food service experience in a healthcare setting
