Job summary

JBS USA at the Pilgrims site in the United States is seeking a skilled diesel/heavy-vehicle technician. Responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing diesel equipment, diagnosing issues, and ensuring reliable operation across a mixed fleet.

You will follow preventive maintenance, perform part replacements, and coordinate repairs while adhering to safety and emissions standards. Strong documentation, communication with supervisors, and the ability to lift and use your own tools

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License required.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines; mixed fleet knowledge with gasoline engines is a plus.
• Knowledge of electrical, braking, suspension, transmission, cooling and HVAC systems; CMMS familiarity.
• Perform routine fleet maintenance including oil changes and tire rotations.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and technicians; document repairs in orders; lift etc.

Responsibilities

Position at Pilgrims

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; adjusting and alignments; keeping records.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnoses vehicle issues by performing inspections, tests, and identifying worn or damaged parts.
• Performs maintenance and repairs including preventive service, part replacements, system overhauls, adjustments, alignments, and upgrades across all major vehicle systems.
• Ensures compliance and performance through test drives, system checks, and adherence to federal and state safety, engine, and emissions standards.
• Maintains documentation and equipment by recording repairs, managing inventory, troubleshooting shop equipment, and coordinating necessary repairs.
• Supports department goals by controlling costs, staying current through training and technical publications, and proactively adding value to operations.

Qualifications:

• Valid Driver's License
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines with an understanding of gasoline engines (for mixed fleet roles)
• Proficiency in electrical systems, brake systems, suspension/steering systems, Transmission/drivetrain repair, Cooling systems, HVAC systems, and familiarity with CMMS- Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Proficiency in all fleet maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations
• Ability to communicate with supervisors, customers, and other technicians, including writing repair and service orders.
• Ability to lift 50-75 pounds while standing, bending and working in tight spaces.
• Must possess own tools

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

• Benefits : Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;

• Paid Time Off : sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;

• 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;

• Pay between $21.25 and $36.25 per hour depending on experience with and additional $1 shift differential for 2^nd^ and 3^rd^ shift.
