Job summary

Boston Freightliner is seeking a Diesel Truck Technician with 2+ years of hands-on experience in heavy‑duty truck diagnostics and repair. You will diagnose issues using diagnostic software, repair major assemblies, and document service records. CDL preferred, own tools required, and various engine certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Two years' diesel truck technician experience.
  • CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
  • Must provide own set of tools.
  • Engine certifications (Detroit/Cummins/Volvo/CAT/PACCAR) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty trucks utilizing diagnostic computer software.
  • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
  • Troubleshoot drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel emission, brakes, steering, hydraulics, adjusting, and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Utilize repair orders to aid in the diagnosis and repair of heavy-duty trucks.
  • Utilize software to create service records documenting the complaint, cause, and correction of vehicle issues.

Education/Experience Requirements


  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a diesel truck technician.

  • License and/or Certification preferred or the willingness to acquire

  • Commercial Driver’s License preferred.

  • Must provide own set of tools.

  • Detroit, Cummins, Volvo, CAT, International, PACCAR engine certifications are a plus.
