Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. seeks a Technician Trainee to join its 18-month Technical Training Developmental Program in a hands-on shop environment. You will be mentored and assessed weekly to gauge technical aptitude, learning progress, and culture fit, with the goal of advancing to Technician I or II within the company.

Responsibilities include vehicle movement, multi-point inspections, and safety-trained operations as you complete both hands-on and online training while adhering to Ryder policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Zero to one year mechanical experience with diesel engines preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong technical aptitude with ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery.
• Competency in basic computer skills and in a Microsoft Office environment.
• Beginner level knowledge of machines and tools and shop management systems preferred.
• Valid CDL Class A, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Move heavy duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or rental shop and fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles.
• Perform multi-point inspections on inbound units as required by company policies.
• Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and perform minor maintenance tasks.
• Attend and complete Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments.
• Complete hands-on and online training including Service Island, Vehicle Fueling, and Safety modules.
