Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Diesel Technician to join a shop that provides company-paid training, invests in new technicians, and keeps a clean, well-equipped workspace with the latest diagnostic tools. Relocation support is available for qualified candidates.You will diagnose and repair diesel trucks, verify warranties, test roadworthiness, coordinate with parts, and maintain tools and shop safety. A CDL eligibility and hand tools are required; training will be provided at company expense.

Qualifications

• Diesel trucks/RVs diagnostic experience preferred.
• Attention to detail in all repair work.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to obtain Class B CDL within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform work as outlined in repair order.

• Diagnose and repair vehicle malfunction per standards.
• Communicate with parts to secure necessary parts and tag warranty parts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform work as outlined in repair order.
• Verify warranty, if applicable, on all repair orders.
• Perform all work with efficiency and accuracy and in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle malfunction.
• Communicate with the parts department to secure necessary parts.
• Save and tag warranty parts.
• Advise shop foreman and provide recommendation if repair order needs to be adjusted.
• Repair documented in technician comments during each active time punch.
• Road test vehicles as needed for quality assessment.
• Maintain working knowledge of factory technical bulletins.
• Ensure customer vehicle cleanliness.
• Maintain neat and orderly work area.
• Accountable for all dealership owned tools.
• Uphold federal, state and local regulations governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
• Perform job duties and functions with flexibility in the event circumstances shift, i.e., emergencies, changes in personnel, workload, rush jobs or technology developments.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• Activities require a full range of motion including handling, lifting, manual dexterity, finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
• Position requires sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time
• Position requires the occasional ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 80 pounds
• Position requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range
• Must be able to operate simple, complex and heavy-duty machinery

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License and MVR in good standing and ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 90 days of employment.
• Diesel Engine Technology Certifications/Education is a plus.
• Knowledge in Detroit, Mack, CAT, International, Cummins, Mercedes, a plus.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks/RVs is preferred.
• Candidate must be a motivated individual who can work independently.
• Following completion of all online training, selected candidate will be required to attend training sessions for products serviced by the company at the company's expense.
• Candidate must possess a complete set of hand tools with rollaway toolbox.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Must obtain refrigerant recovery certification.
• Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.

• DTNA Heavy Duty Truck Systems, DTNA Electrical Troubleshooting, DTNA Electronic Systems, DTNA HVAC, DTNA M2 Certification.

• DD15 Major Repair, DD15 Advanced Diagnostics, Series 60 Major Repair
• Cummins ISX, ISL, ISM, ISB, ISC Engine.
