Job summary

Hub Truck Rental in Newark, NJ is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team full-time. You will perform preventive maintenance, diesel repairs, and on-road service to keep trucks safe and reliable.

We value hands-on experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to pursue ASE certifications. CDL Class B is a plus. Competitive benefits are offered. Strong teamwork and safety mindset are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years automotive or diesel mechanic experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; diesel mechanic training is a plus.
• A valid driver’s license is required; CDL Class B is a plus and may be needed for certain routes.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on trucks and diesel systems.
• Repair diesel engines, transmissions, and major components.
• Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs and troubleshooting as needed.
• Service customers and drive to road calls as required.
• Maintain certifications and pursue ASE trainings when possible.
• Inspect and test vehicles to ensure safe operation and compliance with regulations.

What You’ll Do

You will perform all levels of preventive maintenance services

• · Maintain work area appearance and safety
• · Diesel repairs, service & diagnostics
• · Servicing customers
• · Driving to Road calls
• · Maintain certifications. Desire to continue seeking training classes and ASE certifications
• · Prior diesel mechanic experience
• · Diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
• · Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner
• · Inspect trucks to ensure that they are in proper working condition
• · Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment and machinery
• · Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose
• · Repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmission, and differentials
• · Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards

What We’re Looking For

3 + years of automotive or diesel mechanic experience (preferred)

• · High school diploma or equivalent
• · Diesel Mechanic / Technician training not needed but is a plus
• · A valid driver’s license is required
• · CDL a plus
• · Union Shop exposure a plus
• · Ability to communicate professionally with customers and co-workers
• · CDL Class B – driving throughout Long Island
