Shift Differential: $2.50 and $3.50

Position Summary:

A Penske Refrigeration Technician will diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair all series of motor truck and trailer equipment with the primary focus on all refrigeration unit maintenance equipment designed for commercial trucks and trailers.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Perform all levels of maintenance services, with the primary focus on refrigeration units such as Carrier and/or Thermo King commercial refrigeration equipment.
2. Test lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic test equipment.
3. Read complex schematics associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
4. Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order.
5. Maintain work area appearance and safety.
6. Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or ensure proper operation.
7. Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner.
8. Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
9. Provide additional support regarding preventative maintenance and tractor trailer maintenance as required by location management.
10. Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
11. Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

1. 6 years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required.
2. High school diploma or equivalent required.
3. Vocational/Technical or certification preferred.
4. Specialized training and experience in the overhaul of refrigeration components required.
5. ASE Certification preferred.
6. 608/609 certifications preferred.
7. Proficiency in the use of all necessary tools of trade required.
8. Current CDL license with air brake certification preferred.
9. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
10. Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment is required.
11. Understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management.
12. Adhere to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies, including the correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, and machine guarding.
13. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
14. Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and complete Penske employment application.
15. Submit to background investigation (including past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.

This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, requiring the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Physical Requirements:

1. Frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended lengths of time throughout the scheduled working period.
2. Use hands on a routine and daily basis to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and/or operate required tools or controls.
3. Work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated working platforms.
4. Safely work in all weather conditions.
5. Ability to see and hear to navigate the work environment safely due to the movement of large trucks.
6. Regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
