Job summary

Zūm Services, Inc. is seeking a maintenance technician to keep our fleet of school buses safe and in top operating condition. You will diagnose malfunctions, perform repairs, and coordinate inspections to meet regulatory requirements.

You will work on a range of diesel and gasoline systems, use diagnostic tools, and maintain tools and safety practices. The role requires CDL and 2–4 years of fleet repair experience; ASE certification is a plus, and a commitment to high-quality, reliable transit

Qualifications

• Two to four years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
• Diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills are required.
• Knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment.
• CDL license is required.
• ASE certification desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs (steering, electrical, cooling, brakes, drivetrains, suspensions, etc.) in line with regulations.
• Test-drive vehicles to ensure repairs resolve the problem.
• Arrange inspections and approvals of major repairs before release.
• Maintain a safe, clean, productive work area and comply with guidelines.
• Identify additional maintenance needs and report to higher-qualified technicians.
• Record time, parts used, and repairs performed.
• Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
• Advise Lead Technician of unsafe conditions or practices.

Zūm is adding to our team of passionate people who are transforming student transportation. As a maintenance technician at Zūm, you will help ensure that Zūm's fleet of school buses is kept in safe and optimal operating condition, by determining required repairs and maintenance in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

$25 - $29.33 an hour

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs (e.g. adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions and oil, temperature, gas regulating components, adjust/test/rebuild engines, etc.) and related assigned duties within qualification level, following all relevant. Federal, State/ and local guidelines and requirements.
• Test-drive vehicles to ensure repair resolved the problem.
• Arrange for and obtain appropriate inspections and approval of all major repairs before the vehicle is released from the maintenance facility.
• Maintain a safe, clean, productive, and efficient work area including ensuring the work area complies with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial, and local guidelines and requirements.
• Identify and report any additional maintenance and/or repairs found necessary in conducting assigned repairs and maintenance including repairs and maintenance required to be performed by Technicians with a higher qualification level.
• Record time spent, parts used and repairs and/or maintenance conducted on the appropriate form.
• Perform road calls and on the road repairs as assigned.
• Advise Lead Technician of unsafe maintenance conditions or practices and/or vehicle abuse.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two to four years medium/heavy truck Fleet mechanic repair experience.
• Diagnostic, Electrical, and AC skills are a must.
• Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required.
• Have previous fleet experience and are familiar with diesel and gasoline systems.
• Possess the recommended minimum Hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
• Ability to use good judgment and Decision-Making skills.
• Valid applicable state license (CDL required).
• ASE Certification desirable but not required.

$25 - $29.33 an hour

The targeted base salary range for this role is listed in the compensation section above. Actual salary may be above or below this range based on factors such as location, skills, certification and relevant experience. In addition, this position may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity, or commissions.
